National Treasure.

Lion Heart [SNSD]

"You are your own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting impossible perfection in yourself and others, you may find the happiness that has always eluded you."

Lisa Kleypas, Love in the Afternoon

.................

When reading, we don't fall in love with the characters' appearance. We fall in love with their words, their thoughts and their hearts. We fall in love with their souls.

.................

I don't know why but these days I find that she is getting more beautiful to the extent that I even question myself why I never paid any particular attention to her before. Maybe it has something to do with the power of love (though it is broken now). Or maybe, it has something to do with her skincare routine. Or maybe both? Though I think it has a lot more to do with how she brings herself (ehh pulak).
Well, anyway, to look beautiful, one must feel beautiful. To feel beautiful, one has to love oneself. And to love oneself, one has to first value his or her life. Like someone once said to me (or maybe I read it somewhere I just can't remember where now) that you'll find beauty in your life and enjoy every moment of it once you realise that you'll never get the same moment twice. By doing that, you will find life becomes more meaningful and happiness will shine from your face. And you know what, when you are happy, you will look pretty. Well said (or well-written). I guess instead of worrying of the unknowns, it's better for me to just appreciate and savour every moment in my life now and be grateful. Right?

The sound of tennis ball and swords.

Sobasaku [Samurai X anime OST]

Fridays in Jeli are usually my lazy days.
That explains the amount of anime episodes
and live action movies I've watched throughout the day.

Two episodes of Prince of Tennis anime.
A live action of Prince of Tennis.
A live action of Rurouni Kenshin (2012 movie).

After watching all the above,
my head is full of Ryoma Echizen, Karupin, Fuji Shuusuke,
Himura Kenshin, Kaoru Kamiya and Japanese feudal era.

And now, I can't wait for the next live action movie to come out:
Attack on Titan (based on the manga Shingeki no Kyojin)!
Kyaaaaaaa~~

Bad. This is bad.

Oh Lord, please don't let my children have this trait of mine.

"I'm a paradox. I want to be happy, but I think of things that make me sad. I'm lazy, yet I'm ambitious. I don't like myself, but I also love who I am. I say I don't care, but I really do. Of Aizen Sosuke, Hueco Mundo and an old manga.

Let me go, I don't wanna be your hero

........................

I spent my three-day-weekend by reading; particularly manga. I don't know why, but old habits die hard I guess. Even after I promised myself to move on from the childlike-world of manga and anime, the longing to read old manga came without me realising it. And after almost two years without manga (yup, the last time I read manga was actually the last year I was in the U.K), I finally clicked the manga site and bammmmm! I was glued to my chair and my eyes were strained for reading on the screen for a very looooooooooong period. Aishhh, I need to grow up!
Alas, I have been reading Bleach once again. I actually forgot what was the last chapter I read years ago, so, I randomly clicked on any chapter and yeah; I am now falling deeper into the twisting plot. And this time, instead of Hitsugaya Toushiro, the taichou who captured my heart from the beginning of the manga, I find that I am now attracted to Aizen Sosuke, the betrayer of the Soul Society. Oh gosh, he is the villain. Why did I find him attractive? Whyyyyyyyyy? (I think most probably because of his new hair ahhahaha :p )
*manga: Japanese comic                   *taichou: captain

Birds chirping

A daily health checklist.
But first, let me laze around, reading this book near me in this small, quite dark but comfortable room (for me). I can hear the birds singing from far and oh, my housemate doing her laundry outside. I should open the door to signify that I am wide awake, but can I be lazy today? He he he.

Does the word 'appreciate' no longer exist?

Maria Mercedes OST [Thalia]

I wish my students won't end up saying this.
Because if they do, to regret is just too late.

..........................
One of my friends who sometimes spends her time reading my blog commented how my blog these days revolved around school and students. I admit it is true. Why? Because my days are filled with school stuffs and students. I guess I really need to break away from this environment some time later, if not I will not be able to learn new things and look at world in other perspective.
But first let me write something about Teacher's Day. Ahha.
I don't know when did this specific day for teachers is created, but since I was young, 16th May is Teacher's Day. The day when teachers are celebrated and are given a lot of presents as tokens of appreciation.
Teacher's Day is the same like Mother's Day and other days that are specifically allocated for certain celebration. Most of those days are intended for us to specially celebrate certain people. When it is Mother's Day, we will celebrate our mothers and as a teacher, when it is Teacher's Day, my students will celebrate this day by wishing me "Happy Teacher's Day" and giving me presents.
Honestly, I am so blessed for having a special day for the job I have now. Just because I am a teacher, I get to be celebrated every 16th May. My comrades who are also teachers, were celebrated and received a lot of presents too. However, in my case, even though I was celebrated as well, the amount of presents that I received was less than five. People said, "Don't worry. It's the thought that counts." Yeah, I agree, it is the thought that counts and as long as the students respect and appreciate you it is more than enough. Unfortunately, the students in my school lack such thoughts or in other word; appreciation.
Out of the 140 students I am teaching currently, only 15 students wished me and only 5 gave me presents. I am fine with that because I didn't expect much (as I am not close with students unlike other teachers), but when I saw how they didn't wish other teachers who have been teaching them for years, I was quite disappointed in them. I noticed that these students of mine do not know how to appreciate a person; what more their teachers. It seems like these students find that oh well, since it is Teacher's Day, we will cheer for the teachers when they sing and recite poems but after this day, we can treat you however we like. Because for them, only on Teacher's Day they need to cherish the teachers but not on other days.
This is the problem with having a specific day for celebrating a specific group of people.
You see, when most youngsters nowadays are taught that a specific day is allocated to celebrate certain people, they will end up appreciating people only on that day. They won't realise that appreciating doesn't mean to throw a big party or give presents on that particular day, appreciating means to value and treat people with respect and love on every single day in their lives.

Let's learn to truly appreciate each other.
And let's start by appreciating our mother.

: I am learning how to appreciate my students' effort in learning.
Even if they didn't do well and failed in my paper,

Like a child.

Je ne sais pas [Joyce Jonathan]

The above gifs remind me so much of the quarrel between my siblings and I when we were kids. For something so simple like losing in a game or purposely leaning towards them when the car turned right or left, we could even start World World 3 in the tiny car. And most of the times, when we were so into our 'battle' with each other, my mom would step in and with her mandate, she forced us to make truce for the sake of world peace. Or maybe at that time, her peace.
Now, when we are grown ups, we spend less time picking fights with each other. It's not that I miss the tension and the looooooong 'battle' that I used to have with my siblings, it's just you know, I miss us. When we were in our siblings' battle, we got to choose which side to support and we did form an alliance in order to win the fight. Well, throughout the process of fighting, we actually forgot how and why did we even start the so-called battle of the century. We would do anything to win. We formed alliance, we destroyed the belonging of the opposite side, we even seek for support from the higher ups; our mom and dad. And usually, after a lot of destruction and time wasted, in the end, nobody won.
Why? Because no matter how you hate your siblings, blood is thicker than water. In other words, in a sibling relationship, it is normal to both love and hate each other. We get to show our dissatisfaction and our love at the same time without having to hide those feelings. And, that is what making us closer.
Oh, I miss the feeling of being closer to them; physically. I guess I should start thinking of reasons (excuses :p ) to hit them. Or maybe, I should just hug them instead. Which one do you think suit me best? A ha ha ha ha. I guess most of you will say the former instead of the latter :p

Episode 1: Tapeworm.

Of all days, today I have a sudden urge to watch this.

House MD: Episode 1 (Pilot)

Tapeworm. What and why?

Eating undercooked meat from infected animals is the main cause of tapeworm infection in people. Although tapeworms in humans usually cause few symptoms and are easily treated, they can sometimes cause serious, life-threatening problems. That's why it's important to recognize the symptoms and know how to protect yourself and your family.

Tapeworm Causes

Six types of tapeworms are known to infect people. They are usually identified by the animals they come from -- for example Taenia saginata from beef, Taenia solium from pork, and Diphyllobothrium latum from fish.

Preventing Tapeworms in Humans

You can further reduce your risk of tapeworms by washing your hands before and after using the toilet and by following these food safety tips.
  1. Avoid raw fish and meat.
  2. Thoroughly cook meat to temperatures of at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit for whole cuts of meat and to at least 160 degrees F for ground meat. Then let it rest for at least 3 minutes before carving or eating.  Safe temperatures for poultry are different.
  3. Freeze meat to -4 degrees F for at least 24 hours to kill tapeworm eggs.
  4. When traveling in undeveloped countries, cook fruits and vegetables with boiled or chemically-treated water before eating.
  5. Wash hands with soap and hot water before preparing or eating foods.

Memorado Personality Test

ISTP - DESCRIPTION

ISTPs have outstanding analytic skills. They have strong powers of reasoning that help them understand the way things work.
Most of ISTPs are thrill-seekers. They are independent and need space to live the way they want. Because they always look for action, ISTPs can get bored quite quickly.
ISTPs stick to their values and beliefs. They believe people should be treated equally and fairly. They are loyal and faithful to the ones they love.
ISTPs are action-oriented people. Adaptable and spontaneous, they rather work on concrete tasks than abstract ones. They focus on details and have an excellent sense of expediency which enables them to make quick and effective decisions. Because they absorb a large amount of impersonal facts when interacting with the outer world, ISTPs need to spend time alone to sort their thoughts and ideas.
ISTPs will always value impartial judgments based on facts over judgments based on personal values. They distrust their own feelings because they have difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments.
ISTPs are optimistic, cheerful and action-oriented people. They have uncomplicated desires, are generous, trusting and receptive people.

FAMOUS ISTPs:Steve Jobs, Dalai Lama XIV, Vladimir Putin, Stanley Kubrick, Clint Eastwood, Daniel Craig, Christian Bale, Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart, Demi Moore, Snoop Dogg, Woody Allen, Bruce Lee

My definition of hot guys?

Baby now and forever, until the time is through

This is random I know but I am getting bored marking my students' exam papers. So, to keep me refreshed and energised (feeling giddy giddy ahhaha over betul), here...let me tell you my definition of hot guys (though in real life I won't be able to have one for myself, wuwuuuwuu life is cruel).
My definition of hot guys:

1) Guys who exercise and keep their (hot) body fit.
Please take me with you for jogging!

2) Guys in suits. *swooooon*
Don't you dare look at me with that piercing hot gaze in that hot suits. And drop that phone!

3) Guys who take a good care of their kids and pet.
A loving, responsible man is a real man.
Awww, please take me too! But can you leave the dog somewhere else? *puppy eyes

and....last but not least...

4) Guys who pray and never once forget to do so.

....................................

I have two actor biases in Korean entertainment industry. The two actors are Lee Dong Gun and Jang Dong Gun which I named them as my Dong-Gun line. I always take a great liking into watching the drama series that they are in, no matter how lousy the plot is. It is always this Dong-Gun line until one day, an actor with cheeky-boyish smiles entered my life and disturbed my Dong-Gun line. He is no other than our Gong Yoo. He is not that handsome, but he has his own charm. Urgghhhh, waeeeeee?! Just please stop smiling!
Huh? How about Kim Bum, you asked? What about him? Oh well, he has long gone from being one of my actor biases even before the dating news broke out. I didn't expect him dating Moon Geun Young to be honest with, but I am sure proud with him being honest about his relationship. I guess this year has been quite a dating year for most of our biases, my dear. No, no, no. I can't take him back. I am happy for him though but sorry Kim Bum, I'll have to let you go. Just please, don't throw your charming smiles at me again, or else...I might end up putting you in the list again, in which I will hate myself for doing that (urghhh me and my messed-up biases list problem). Bye bye my dear Kim Bum (deleting almost all his pictures in my laptop while silently reminiscing the smiles he brought upon my lonely soul once upon a time. cehhh poyo jer, padahal dok replay episode yang ada dia je heh, speaking of irony.)

.........................
Being a woman *while playing Britney Spears' Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman*, I often have this problem of feeling 'less than'. I believe all of us, or most of us, have this kind of problem every single day in our lives. No matter what people tell us, we still feel we lack something. That is why we often value ourselves less than we should. In my case, no matter what people say, I often feel I am unattractive, untalented and a total potato (why on earth potatooooo?! ahhaha but really, I do feel like a potato somehow). However, when my friends told me that they felt that they are unattractive, I tried to brush off their insecurities (yela tuh ahhaha) by telling them that they are nothing of sort as I could see how charming, attractive and beautiful they are inside out. But like me, no matter what I said, they still think they are less than what I told them and find that the compliments that I threw at them were just mere compliments and an exaggeration. But noooo, no no no, every one of you are beautiful in your own way. Why can't you believe meeeee?

No matter what people say, most of us still feel we are 'less than'. How can we cope with this?
Any idea?

I was feeling bored and I stumbled upon this...

Ku tak sanggup lagi kehilangan

These are few questions asked in an interview! The answers are really stunning and inspiring. Thinking out of the box! A must read...

Question 1:
You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it’s raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:
* An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
* An old friend who once saved your life.
* The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?
This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.
He simply answered:
“I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.”
Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to “Think Outside of the Box.”

Question 2:
What will you do if I run away with your sister?

The candidate who was selected answered ” I will not get a better match for my sister than you sir”

Question 3:
Interviewer (to a student girl candidate) – What is one morning you woke up & found that you were pregnant.

Girl - I will be very excited and take an off, to celebrate with my husband.
Normally an unmarried girl will be shocked to hear this, but she managed it well. Why I should think it in the wrong way, she said later when asked.

Question 4:
Interviewer: He ordered a cup of coffee for the candidate. Coffee arrived kept before the candidate, then he asked what is before you?
Candidate: Instantly replied “Tea”
He got selected.
You know how and why did he say “TEA” when he knows very well that coffee was kept before.
(Answer: The question was “What is before you (U – alphabet) Reply was “TEA” ( T – alphabet)
Alphabet “T” was before Alphabet “U”

Question 5;
Interviewer said “I shall either ask you ten easy questions or one really difficult question.
Think well before you make up your mind!” The boy thought for a while and said, “my choice is one really difficult question.”
“Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice! Now tell me this. “What comes first, Day or Night?”
The boy was jolted into reality as his admission depends on the correctness of his answer, but he thought for a while and said, “It’s the DAY sir!”
“How” the interviewer asked,
“Sorry sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!”

.................................

Sometimes just thinking out of the box is all it takes!
