I have to do this one more thing before year 2014.

Just a smile and the rain is gone

For a person who does not like to watch any horror movie with unknown entity (in other words: ghost), I watched a horror movie yesterday. Believe it! Oh I can't believe I did watch 'The Conjuring' with my siblings at midnight. And today, before midnight, we are planning to watch another horror movie; Insidious Chapter 2.
Oh well, the movie was something. I don't mind watching thriller type of movie with psychos madness and killings and blood and everything, but I do mind watching ghost type of movie. I am not scared, but more of dislike to that type of story. You know, when people encounter ghosts, they kind of scared of ghosts more than God...so that's why I don't like about it. However, ironically, I do like the movie 'Insidious' which I watched with my siblings around...err, last year?
Alas, for 'The Conjuring', I gave it a try since it is based on true story (as they proclaimed). Not bad. And not that scary, thanks to my younger sister who spoiled the story while watching ahhahaha. So, tonight, we are going to watch the sequel for my errr...should I say favourite horror movie; Insidious? I hope the sequel will not be as bad as every sequel in the history of films should be. Oh well, whatever it is, I will watch it with my siblings yeaaahhhhhh.
I guess I have overcome my fear dislike for watching horror movie yesterday, and I hope today too! Have a great night too everyone! :)

But if it is hard, doesn't mean it is impossible.

Let's be productive each day.
Have a blessed day, everyone! :)

Oh, I am so honoured to have someone sweet read this blog ahhaha.
Why on earth this dull and emo-ish blog still has a place in people's heart, I wonder.

It's already 10 years, eh?

Why Did I Fall In Love With You

This might be a sign that I have finally managed to move on.
This might be a sign that I have finally grown up.
This might be a sign that I have finally given up.
This might be a sign that I have finally had something else to do.

Dear,

I am finally letting this balloon fly away on its own.
The time has passed, but the memories remain.
I shall always remember the times I had with the balloon and the laughter and tears I had throughout the times.
Happy always, dearies.
Go and create more beautiful melodies.
Though I may not follow all the songs, you guys still have a special place in my heart.
Mr Mismatched Eyes, goodbye and saranghae! :3

: To be honest with you, I still listen to Korean songs.
However, not as much as I used to before.
But today, I am listening to you :)

A soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone.

You're already the voice inside my head

The highlights of this month:

1) My comrades and I had an interview to secure our job-to-be in which I failed to see where is this heading to.
2) The most frequent question of this entire month: "When will we be posted for the job?"
3) Hello school holidays, hello weddings!
4) The most annoying question of this entire month: "When is your wedding?" Ahhaaa, why? do you want to sponsor my wedding? (amboii, marah nampak ahhaha ;p )
5) More reminiscing and reminiscing of the past. Old photos and videos are among the victims.
6) Being the eldest daughter is a noble yet horrible job at times. Gotta be stronger; physically, mentally and spiritually. Ohhh, and financially in which I am lacking at this area.
7) There were times where I had to choose between two roads and here I am, on neither roads.
8) Loving the healthy smoothies made using our own fruits and blender (ahhaha yeah right, takkan amik jiran punya).
9) Been reading random articles; from 'The differences between Western skincare and Asian skincare' to 'Is King Arthur Real?' to 'Are You An Introvert' to 'Jack The Ripper' to 'Controlling Your Anger' to any other random topics which I forgot what.
10) Been meeting up with old friends who made me realised that I am jobless and yet blessed. Oh, we all are.
..........................

I wonder in which aspect that makes my friends think of me.

I wonder if they ever missed me like how I missed them.

I wonder until when will we miss each other.

Oh, can I be young forever?

When you love, you commit.

Evergreen [Will Young]

Being the eldest child is not an easy thing.
I love my siblings, my mom, my dad and my cats.
However, I hate it when I am the one who have to do a lot of things.
All those house chores; from doing laundry, sweeping the floor, cooking, cleaning and stuffs.
I hate it especially if I am responsible in doing all that every single day.
All this commitment, I hate it.
But, there are many verses in Quran mention about love.
The word 'love' appears in over 90 places in Quran.
However, interestingly,
it doesn't define the word 'love'.
Instead, it speaks about
the very first consequence of love;
commitment.
So dear self, if you love your family and cats,
be committed.
In whatever chores you are doing, be committed.
Allah pays every sweat.
Just please, please please please don't complain.

Five Lessons About How To Treat People : Lesson 2

Five Lessons About How To Treat People

2. Second Important Lesson - “Pickup In The Rain”

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.
She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home.
A special note was attached. It read:
“Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband’s bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.”
Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.

.............................

I went to both Gurney Paragon and Gurney Plaza today. My dear friends and I had a quick tour, oh well, window shopping to be exact at Gurney Paragon before we went to Gurney Plaza for a Korean barbecue at Seoul Garden.
Gurney Paragon is a grand shopping complex, I shall say. There are more branded outlets there in comparison to Gurney Plaza, which I think explains the reason why there are more foreigners in Paragon. There are a few outlets which remind me of Europe and the U.K. But well, since I am jobless and the currency that I am using now is Ringgit Malaysia, I could only window shopping and silently gasped at the price. I missed shopping in the U.K (tetiba lols). While randomly roaming around the Paragon, I noticed a few restaurants in which I think I could give a try when I have a lot of money in my pocket. But until that time comes, I will just wait and wait. However, even though Paragon is a grand place for shopping, it doesn't offer a good place to pray for the Muslims. The prayer room is sooooo small, as small as a store room. Only three people at maximum can pray there at one time. I am not exaggerating here, really I am not. I hope the room is only temporary and a bigger room is being prepared in the future. Overall, Paragon is a nice place to window shopping and a good place to do a photography session with friends :p
Gurney Plaza also offers branded outlets but it also offers a lot more affordable outlets for jobless people like me. At least I can buy something and roaming around feeling like I can buy anything I want when I am not jobless ahhahaha. The prayer room is a lot more spacious than Paragon, that is why my friends and I decided to perform our Maghrib prayer there instead of Paragon. However, one thing that Plaza lacks is that the signboard to the prayer room is nowhere to be found. I had to ask the cleaner whom I think are Muslims to find the room. Oh well, we can't expect everything to be perfect, right?
Err wait, why on earth am I writing a review on shopping complexes? Oh well, we did have a great time though. Despite another unexpected incident happened later after our dinner in Seoul Garden, we did have a great time. And the theme song on our journey back home; Jodoh Pasti Bertemu by Afgan. Yeahhhhh.

: 7th December 2013.
: 11.48 p.m.
: Penang, Malaysia.
: Thank you dear lovely driver for today.
Don't worry, it was nothing.
And don't worry, jodoh pasti bertemu ;)

Wednesday, 4 December 2013

I drove to Gurney on my own today.

My life is brilliant, my love is pure

I had a great day with my fellow Northern friends. We called ourselves--Geng Utara. Despite the bad traffic early in the morning thanks to the toll at Penang Bridge yeeaaahhhhh I love traffic jam (please note the sarcasm there), we managed to enjoy ourselves. One of our Penangite friends (well, apart from me) offered to treat us for lunch at his aunt's house so yeaaaahhhhhhh I love food (please note that I am sincerely being happy here ;p ).
Unfortunately to those Kedahan and Perakian friends, we the Penangites are among the many Penangites who don't really memorise all the roads in Penang. There are so many freaking routes on that small island and most of them are either leading you to your destination or bring you to another part of the island in which might make you end up in never ending traffic jam, so we the Penangites find it very difficult to lead the way. Please understand us, we are just normal people. Ahhaha what an excuse. But alhamdulillah, thank God for the invention of GPS. We managed to find our way yeaaahhhhh.
We spent hours in a shopping complex; eating and wandering like nobody's business. We are all jobless people now. Nevertheless, money is not everything and we did have a great fun catching up with each other. We even met one of our seniors back in the U.K.
Indeed, they are among the people I am blessed with. No matter how annoying I can be sometimes, they are there. Thank you, dear friends.

Now, after all the fun, let us wait for the upcoming interview. All the best!

Five Lessons About How To Treat People : Lesson 1

The best song ever [One Direction]

Five Lessons About How To Treat People

— Author Unknown

1. First Important Lesson - “Know The Cleaning Lady”

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: “What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?”
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
“Absolutely,” said the professor. “In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say “hello.”
I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

...................

People say I love you all the time-
when they say
"take an umbrella, it's raining", or
"hurry back", or even
"watch out, you'll break your neck."
There are hundreds of ways of wording it-
you just have to listen for it,
my dear.

A story about a student of mine.

I want it that way

I have this one student. He is one of the difficult students I have ever had in my teaching life (only a few months of teaching life though). No matter how I tried to approach and persuade him to at least listen and do the work I have given, he tend to walk around the class and keep disturbing his friends.  He would ask to go to the toilet and then he would never come back. He ate nasi lemak during my lesson even though he knew that it is not allowed to eat in class especially during lesson. He even smiled and laughed when I told him to stop. Oh gosh, I still remembered how I felt like taking that nasi lemak from his hands and smearing all the sambal on his face.
There were a lot of things he did and his name is often being mentioned in the small and informal meetings of the teachers who were and are teaching him. Due to that, I often had this dreadful feeling every time I went into his class. Just a glimpse of him made my stomach knotted. I used to think, "Oh my, he is here. Why did he decide to come today?". If he was to sleep in my class, I would be more than glad to let him do so. See, how bad I am as his teacher.

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year."
One fine day, I tried to act upon the above quote. I told myself, "Hey, he won't be that bad every single day, will he? Let's pray and hope that today he will learn instead." So, I walked into the class with a smile. And the first person I made a friendly eye contact (I think I made that kind of eye contact okay) was him. He then stood up and quickly headed to the door. I thought to myself, "Oh my, he's gonna go out and disturb other classes this time. Oh well, off you go." But no, I was wrong. He went to the door and before I had to chance to ask other students to rub the board, he picked a piece of cloth that was on the floor near the door. He then rubbed the board.

"Stop hating someone for not being perfect.
If God wanted perfection, He would have made him or her an angel."
I was stunned and only God knows how I mentally slapped my face for thinking bad of him. I was so touched with the kind gesture that I totally ignored the other students at that time who were busy chatting and searching for their books (mind you they all were too noisy). He then said to me, "Teacher, sorry. I don't feel like studying today. Can I just rub the board and sweep the floor instead? Anything will do, but not writing in the book."

"Don't tell people to be good, instead, help facilitate goodness in them."
My heart went out for him. He is not that bad. There's still a part of him who wants to do good. He might be reluctant to study, but he might be glad to just do other work like helping teachers to do manual work. I don't know. I can't read him. I guess others too can't read him. That is why we tend to label him, judge him and punish him for our own judgement. I have learnt my lesson. Maybe one day I will meet this kind of students who what they need is not the formal lessons on subjects, but rather, the kind of lessons where they can learn to be a better person. Maybe from that kind of lessons only they will learn to learn.

In the end, memories are what we are left with.

[I'm In Love, Narsha]

This month highlights:

  1. Went to Alor Setar for err a mini reunion, shall I say?
  2. School on Saturdays yeaaaaahhhhh.
  3. One of my students passed away on the day my brother broke his ulna and radius bones.
  4. Drove to Perlis alone to and fro.
  5. The most rewarding food after a long school day = apam balik. Irresistibly delicious!
  6. Almost being hit by a bus. The bus didn't stop at a T-junction. Great.
  7. Discovered two new shorter routes to the school. Can afford to start the journey a bit late.
  8. Saw a salmon and remembered the salmon dishes cooked by dear friends.
  9. Watched a show featured in Paris and suddenly thought of the word ice in French.
  10. One of my students ate nasi lemak during my lesson.
  11. Saw the word 'Interlaken' and dreamt about the place during sleep.
  12. In charge of the gate three times for a week and everytime I went to carry out my duty, the Principal was there.
  13. Tried kerang rebus after quite some time.
  14. Being the driver, the cook, the cats' poop cleaner and the parents for three days and it was extremely tough. Every single day I prayed so that my mom and dad would come back soon.
  15. Joked about owning a Volkswagen Golf GTI and the students believed it. They thought I was joking when I said I was joking about owning one.
  16. Cuddling the cats was the best therapy after a long day.
  17. Currently following a long-forgotten reality show for the cute yet always bickering couple.

................................

After quite some time, I missed the U.K.
Not exactly the place because it is never the same now, but the moments I once had there.
I wonder if the empty jar is still in the lake behind the houses in our student village.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me~

Alhamdulillah, after a never-ending school days, I managed to get myself a cake. As well as a time alone. A me-time! Yehuuuu. The cake was delicious but I still had to struggle my way through finishing it. To tell you the truth, I took more than half an hour to finish a slice of this cheese cake. All in all, a treat is a treat. I am contented now ahhaha.
For all the wishes, prayers, text messages, whatsapps and calls (video call too! heeee), thanks so so soooooo much. You make me feel loved and appreciated. May God bless all of you! *throw confetti*

Look into my eyes and tell me that you love me.

Most people live their lives with expectations to meet.
A lot of expectations.
To be smart, to be well-mannered, to be all-rounded, to be beautiful, to be talented,
To be what society thinks the best.
These expectations tire people out most of the time.
These expectations make people do not appreciate themselves,
and people around them.
Sometimes, I do not appreciate myself.
Not sometimes, most of the time.
You too, I believe.
Sorry if I am to be too dependent.
Sorry if I am to be not confident.
Sorry if I am to be not what you think.
But please tell me that you love me
for who I really am;
not for who I am supposed to be.

The power of sahur.

The sound of birds chirping

I am the type of person who has to wake up and have my sahur if I am fasting.

Kiddo, believe me when I say;
"I know how it feels when you missed your sahur."

..............................

Sahur is a sunnah.
It is for your health, too.
Like what people say; "Breakfast like a queen."
So in this case; "Sahur like a king."

Ahhaha.

Wednesday, 24 July 2013

What will you ask for if you were given a wish that will surely be granted?

You know how much I love going for terawikh prayer? If you don't know, I reaaaaallyyyyy love going for terawikh prayer. Why? Because at my place, here in this small town (it's getting bigger though), after Isya' prayer, there will be a short tazkirah before we proceed with terawikh prayer.
And the things that I love the most about tazkirah are; the sharing of hadith and the stories of the Companions.
I love sirah. Or in other words, I love the stories of Prophet Muhammad and his Companions. I love listening and knowing about them, not because I love to listen to stories, but because they make me feel I am closed to the Prophet. The Companions are normal people like us, like me, but their stories. MashaAllah, they could do so much things, they could be patient to a lot of difficult trials that even I could not take it if I were them. They made me cry deep in my heart.

And tonight, the story is about a companion who was offered to ask anything that he wanted and the Prophet would pray for him. The companion then asked the Prophet to give him time to think. He thought for quite some time, and there was a battle in his heart. He was a poor man. Very poor. Therefore, a part of him wanted the wealth in the world until another part of him said to him; "If you asked for the wealth of this dunya, Allah will give you even though you do not ask for it. There will be something for you as everyone will have their own wealth (rezeki) in this dunya. But if you asked for something more everlasting in the hereafter, then won't it be better for you?"
In the end, he asked to be Prophet Muhammad's friend in the jannah. Nothing but that. Do you know who is he? He is Rabi'ah bin Kaab.

His response made me asked myself the same thing. What will I ask for if I were him? And by listening to the battle in my heart, I was left ashamed with my poor soul. Oh Allah, forgive me for my foolish needs of this dunya. Please make me be more grateful for all that You have given me and please make me one of those who seek for the pleasure of hereafter.

Five things that I would have told my young teenage self:

Tanya sama pokok, apa sebab goyang

  1. Things would not be easy.
  2. People will change.
  3. Be the change you want to see in this world.
  4. Sometimes, the biggest enemy is yourself.
  5. Mistakes are a part of life.

Bagaimana cara membuatmu bahagia

While living life, there are, of course, weights that you feel are only weighing down on you. In our society, people feel more alone than ever. They box themselves up and are afraid of other people coming in their zone. The world keeps making people depend on only themselves and promotes competition among one another. People think that’s what success is so they follow it while losing their freedom and deepening their depression.

This world is not for you alone. Let us learn to share and appreciate others. Open up, leave your box and learn to welcome others in your box. Don't just talk about you. You have to listen  to others too.

Question: What are the things that you can't buy in stores?

Answer: Love, happiness, family, friends, health and time.

..........................

......................

I went to a few places throughout this month of June and I encountered a lot of people. They are different from me, yet we are similar in some ways. There are those who value beauty things in life. There are also those who value expensive things in life. And there are also those who value the simplicity in life. Oh, and there are also others who value other types of things in life.

This makes me think. Which type of person I actually am?

"Be mindful of Allah, so He may be mindful of you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will always find Him before you. Be mindful of Allah during prosperity, He will be mindful of you during austerity. If you are in need, ask Allah. If you seek help, seek His help, and be informed that there is a great deal of goodness in what you dislike, that victory comes with perseverance, that ease follows hardship and that with every hardship there is ease."

If things are out of order, make it part of a surprise.

I know I'm tough enough

......................

I went into the empty class this morning, alone. I wrote something on the board. Something that I had in my heart for such a long time. Something that I wanted to say to my dear comrades all these while. Something that I really meant to say from the bottom of my heart.

You know what else I did?

I sat down in that empty class alone, re-visualising all the havoc moments, the arguments, the presentations, the photography sessions and the preparations for every occasions that were once happened in that empty class. The class that we loved to stay for the air-conditioner but also the same class that we hated to go for the never-ending workloads.

Happy Birthdayyyyy and Happy Mother's Dayyyyy! :)

May Allah bless you and protect you and grant you with more strength and patience.
You are the most patient woman I have ever met.

Literally just a few more days. A few more days.

You left me praying for a single drop of rain oh

This is the monologue that I had once upon a time in a relief class during the Practicum period.

Wow, 10 minutes have just passed? Why so slow?
20 minutes in this class is like a 2 hours of war.
You're right, the boys are playing with the stick of the chair.
They are noisy, but at least they are not fighting.
Most of them resorted to sleeping which is good.
I just don't feel like shouting or saying anything.
I will just look at them and pretend that I write their names. I use this method a lot you see.
It's until time before they realise that my method is just a mere pretense.
Oh wow, alhamdulillah, finally the bell rings!

This is the monologue that I had once upon a time in a kayak during the BIG programme.

Oh no, my partner looks unreliable.
I guess I just have to paddle like there's no tomorrow!
No, no, let me get that paddle on my own! Oh well, since he took it for me, oh well, thanks.
Hey, he is not that bad.
I guess I can just say that I do not know how to kayak ahhaha.
It's too hottttttt. Oh sun, why nowwwwww.
Hurry hurry, paddle paddleeeee I cannot take this hot heat.
Oh wait, I can see the land now yehuuuuuu.
Oh wow, alhamdulillah, finally we made it!

Farewell doesn't treat me good.

Today is literally the last day of my practicum. So many things going on and on and on and here I am, feeling miserable and sad and all I can think of is; farewell doesn't treat me that good this time.

Oh well, I should be grateful I know. There's always a hikmah behind everything. Like a lesson, or maybe you know, next time I should plan properly, or maybe I should not expect too much. Oh well, this kind of things. Hey, that's the hikmah!

Hurm, before I start gearing up and you know, sit down and let it all go, please let me just stand and stare blankly for a while. In other words, let me adjust my feelings and you know, my spirit. Just give me a pat on my shoulder though, because whatever happened, I have finally completed my practicum.

All praise to the Almighty.
